Cori is the senior director of legal and public affairs for the WRA. Cori serves as the primary contact for members and firms regarding brokerage regulatory and licensing issues, and also serves as the liaison between the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) and the WRA. Cori is actively involved in the development and enactment of state laws, policies and forms affecting the real estate industry. Cori regularly presents seminars and trainings to real estate licensees and also serves as a contributing author for Wisconsin Real Estate Magazine. Cori collaborates with REALTOR® boards on forms and practice issues, serves on the Real Estate Contractual Forms Advisory Council and the Wisconsin Information Land Council, and has been a speaker for events at Marquette University Law School and the State Bar of Wisconsin. Cori received her Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University and Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University. She was named the WRA Instructor of the Year in 2005 and 2013.

Ryan Ogle is a dynamic entrepreneur, real estate broker and investor in Michigan. Ogle pursued his own home improvement business after graduating high school. While painting, he learned about real estate from a local broker and quickly realized, “why paint homes when you can sell them?”

In 2001, Ogle entered real estate and quickly became recognized as one of the region’s premiere REALTORS®. In 2008, Ogle opened Blu House Properties LLC and later opened Rent Blu Property Management Services and Mariani Construction to focus on the increasing demand for property management, construction services and real estate investment. Today, Ogle serves as the owner and broker of Blu House and has sold over $375 million in total sales volume.

Ogle’s community involvement includes serving as the 2018 president of Greater Regional Alliance of REALTORS® as well as positions with the Young Professionals Network, Grand Rapids Christian Schools, Grand Rapids Center for Community Transformation and the Eastown Business Association.

ADAPT: Overcoming Adversity

Overview

No obstacle is too big for Major League Baseball pitcher, Olympic gold medalist and Michigan native Jim Abbott. Born without a right hand, Abbott played on the Michigan University baseball team, making all-American, winning the Sullivan award, and even going on to win a gold medal as the pitcher with the U.S. Olympic team in 1988. In a decade in the major leagues, Abbott played for the California Angels, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees with great success. One of his career highlights happened with the Yankees on September 4, 1993, when Abbott pitched a no-hitter against the Indians, winning 4-0. He ended his MLB career in 1999 with the Brewers.


Since retiring as an active player, Abbott has worked with The Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) on several initiatives encouraging businesses to hire people with disabilities. Today, in addition to often serving as a guest pitching instructor during spring training for the Los Angeles Angels, Abbott is a motivational speaker.

Wisconsin Real Estate Law and Practice provides instruction on financing sources including seller financing and when it may be permitted or prohibited. Review the mandatory seller disclosure obligations including when a seller could be liable for misrepresentation to a buyer. Consider how to best prepare a seller when listing a condominium and helping the seller prepare for an offer to purchase.

Jonathan M. Sayas is currently the Wisconsin State Underwriting Counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Company, a part of Stewart Information Services Corp. Stewart Title is a leading provider of real estate services, including global residential and commercial title insurance as well as various escrow and settlement services. Sayas previously practiced law as a second-generation partner at Sayas, Schmuki, Rondini & Plum, S.C.

Sayas also is a regular instructor for the WRA, the Wisconsin Land Title Association (WLTA), and is a member of the DSPS' Wisconsin Real Estate Forms Advisory Committee. In 2016, he was awarded the designation of Wisconsin Land Title Professional by the WLTA. Jonathan received his Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University in Indiana and his undergraduate degree in general business from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
